Crown Farm Dressage Show Report

As ever, Crown Farm proved to be a very popular event with over 80 entries this year which made a very long day indeed. Once again we are very grateful to Chris and Janet Badger for letting us use their lovely venue.

Although the day started with a slight hiccup when our judge and writer for the first class were delayed due to the closure of both the A34 and A40, we managed not to run too far behind, even though the first two classes (Intro B/Prelim 4 and Prelim 14) both had very large entries (25 in each class).

Abigail Whelan won the Restricted Section of Class 1 with her lovely horse Pagans Dancer with 68.64%. Claire Matheson managed to come equal 1st with herself in Class 2 on Andy W and Robbie with scores of 66.25% ! Claire also won both Novice classes with the lovely chestnut, Jaegar, with scores of 71.6% and 72.5% respectively.

In the Open Section, Anna Harter won Class 1 on Martin with 69.09% and came second in Class 2 with 62.08% just behind Lizzie Page on Bunny also on 62.08% and with the same collectives – it was only the walk mark that separated them. Anna also won the Open Section of both Novice Classes on her lovely stallion, Monty, with 69.60% and 69.64% respectively. Class 5 was won by Maggie Beresford and the lovely I See You Sidney with 65.31% and Class 6 (Elem 44/Medium 71) by Catarina Erikson and Braveheart on 65,20%, with Sue Odom and Waterboatman coming 2nd with 65.16% .

Very many thanks to all our helpers. Lindsey and I couldn’t have managed without the considerable help we received throughout the day: Paul (Lindsey’s husband), Suzanne Morgan and Sally-Anne Barton, stewarding, which is no easy task as the two arenas are miles apart. At least the walkie-talkies kept going all day this time – last year they died on us – and we ended up having to use our mobile phones to call each other !

Jill and Colin Smith, together with Suzanne Morgan were kept busy scoring all day – again not an easy task with such big classes.
