Show Report
The weather in the preceding week didn't look promising for our show! We were getting ready to wear all kinds of fetching attire and hoping all who came would manage to stay relatively dry. However, they do say that 'the sun shines on the righteous' - thank you all for allowing us to share your sunshine, we greatly appreciated it! The show was a great success. Our very grateful thanks and compliments to our judges and writers, who did a fabulous job; all the classes ran smoothly and to time. In addition, it is always lovely to see so many well deserved compliments, constructive criticism and encouraging remarks on the score sheets.
Class 1 Prelim 15 (2008), judged by Jo Ackland (writer: Fiona Smith). Eighteen riders contested this class. The restricted section was won by Maggie Beresford, riding Tregaric Neubaur, with a fantastic score of 68.6%; Karen Nunwick came second on Urioso (66.5%) only beating Suzanne Morgan into third place on collectives, these two achieving the same score as our only open winner, Debbie Mason riding Jumpin Jack Flash.
Class 2 Prelim 17, judged by Vicki Mace (writer: Leigh Edgerler). The extremely stylish thirteen year old, Clare Newstead, riding Ellare Flare Molly, was the resounding winner of this class achieving 72.9% - a real joy to watch! In second place, with the good sore of 67%, was Debbie Hodson on her horse Oz. There were several 'first timers' in this class who all put on good performances to gain very valuable experience, we look forward to seeing them all again. Debbie Mason won our open section.
Class 3 Novice 22, judged by Miss C Mirylees (writer: Sue Whiting). 10 restricted riders and 5 open riders contested this class. Thirteen year old Clare Newstead put on an absolutely wonderful performance again, winning the restricted section with a score of 68.9%. Second place was hotly fought by Catarina Eriksson riding Braveheart and Lisel Phillips on Boswell scoring 64.1%, Catarina winning on collectives. The open section was narrowly won, on 69.6% with a margin of only 0.3%, by Helen Philip, riding her beautiful horse Rubens; Tiggi Bentley riding Pepper, taking second place.
Class 4 Novice 33, again judged by Miss C Mirylees (writer: Sue Whiting). Our smallest class of the day, with 5 restricted and 5 open riders, standards remained high and competition was strong. The restricted section was won by Catarina Eriksson on Braveheart, scoring 66.2% and winning on collectives, with second place going to Emma Quieralt on Quisisanna. Sue Odom, on Waterboatman, won the open section with an excellent score of 69.6%, Helen Philip taking second place with 68.6%.
Our very grateful thanks go to our sponsors, LearnDressageTests, who generously sponsored a prize of one of their CD's for the highest percentage winner in each class. Classes 1 and 2 were won by the restricted section winners, Maggie Beresford and Clare Newstead. Classes 3 and 4 were won by the open section winners, Helen Philip and Sue Odom.
As always, we had a great many wonderful helpers on the day, not all of them Isis members! We are, as ever, so very grateful to all those who were so generous with their time and efforts.
Our stewards, who so ably marshal the warm-up arena, keeping everyone wonderfully to time: Karen Saunders, Louisa Baker, Joan Bell and Lizi and Peter Hamilton. The Daniels family were again invaluable! Steve, yet again turning on his renowned charm, welcoming people to our venue and telling them where to go (in the nicest possible way!). Tracey, along with Lizzy Hart, taking responsibility for manning the gate into the arena. Caroline's son, Adam was tireless in running the sheets from the judges box to the secretary, what it is to have young legs!
At this point huge thanks go to our hosts, Paul and Carole Jefferey, for allowing us to use this fantastic venue again. It was particularly wonderful of them to open up one of the paddocks to ease the strain on parking, this helped to remove some of the stress, not only with regard to space, making the central area of the showground a far more relaxed and efficient area.
Thank you for all the feedback we have received, and to those who have sent us messages of thanks and praise for an enjoyable and efficiently run show, it is wonderful to know you all enjoyed the day
all thanks, again, to the whole team
we could not do it without you!
